Team Saurashtra won Semi Final Match of Ranji Trophy 2022-23 against Karnataka by 4 wickets. Skipper Arpit Vasavada declared Player of the Match for his outstanding double Ton in first innings and winning 47 not out in second.
Saurashtra had won quarter final match against Punjab by 71 runs.
Saurashtra had played league matches in Elite Group B. Other teams in the Group were Assam, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Team Saurashtra had finished on top in the Group with 3 wins, 2 draw (first innings leads) and 2 loss.
Saurashtra to play final match against Bengal at Eden Garden, Kolkata from 16th February 2023 onwards. This is second time Saurashtra to play final of Ranji Trophy against Bengal. Last in 2019-20, Team Saurashtra had become champions beating Bengal by first innings lead. Arpit Vasavada was Player of the Match for scoring 106 in first innings.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee in consultation with the Indian team management has decided to release Jaydev Unadkat from India’s squad for the 2nd Test of the Mastercard Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to play final of Ranji Trophy.
Mr. Jaydev Shah, President of Saurashtra Cricket Association expressed, “We sincerely thank Shri Jaybhai Shah, Hon. Secretary – BCCI and All India Senior Selection Committee to kindly consider Jaydev Unadkat to play final of prestigious Ranji Trophy. This is indeed very important decision considering importance to the prestigious tournament of domestic Cricket.”
Senior Selection Committee of Saurashtra Cricket Association has also decided to include Jay Gohil in squad of Saurashtra for the final.
