Ravindra Jadeja – third Indian Cricketer to have played 50 or more games in all three formats of Cricket.. What a phenomenal Cricketer he is.
When India was bowled out for 36 in the Adelaide test match 10 days before, nobody gave a chance to this Indian team to bounce back any time soon. However the team India made necessary changes in to the team and appeared for Boxing Day test match on MCG with a positive mind set and a strong intent.
There were quite a few changes made in the playing eleven and one of the most important was that of Ravindra Jadeja back in the team. Players like him carry such a value that once they are on the field of play, they create an impact and force positive results for the team. When India was in spot of bother and needed someone to play alongside Captain Ajinkya Rahane to push the lead beyond 125, Jaddu stepped up and batted like a champion. It was observed by the pundits of the game that Ravindra was quite comfortable against the fiery fast bowlers of Australia. He dealt with bouncers, Yorkers and lethal swing with complete ease and control. He showed the skill of solid defense and quality stroke play in the same inning. He played an important knock to ensure that India had a healthy & decent lead. The best catch of the game (Mathew Wade of Ashwin in the 1st inning) was also grabbed by this Rock star. When India needed final few wickets in the 2nd innings, again it was this awesome all-rounder from Saurashtra, Ravindra Jadeja who came to the party.
History was created at MCG and it was a proud team effort by the Indian side. Amongst this celebration one epic achievement of an Indian player was hardly noticed, any guesses!!!!
Yes, again it is about our very own Ravindra Jadeja. By playing the 50th Test match at MCG, Ravindra now has become only the 3rd Indian cricketer, after Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli, to have played 50 or more games in all three formats of the game. Indeed an achievement of a huge scale. In the times where “specialists” word is widely discussed for each format of the game, we have Ravindra Jadeja who fits in to all possible formats of the game with command. 50 test matches, 50 International T-20s and 168 ODI for India is a terrific record. His batting averages in test matches have gone way up in last three years. “He is no less than a top order batsman”- This statement is backed not only by the facts and figures but also by the calmness and assurance he brings to the crease. Over 4500 runs and 450 wickets in all 3 formats together is unbelievable statistics. His performance in the IPL makes him one of the most valuable players of the tournament. During the 11th edition of IPL in UAE, he single handedly won the games for CSK, when the team was struggling in the points table.
His records for Saurashtra are second to none. Three triple hundreds under his belt and total of 32 wickets in 3 consecutive Ranji games stand as one of the brightest moments of his domestic career. These extra ordinary performances also became the reason for his maiden India cap in 2009 and also for the grand comeback at a later stage. Ravindra Jadeja is the all-rounder India has been looking for years. The team is incomplete without him on any given day in any given format. Ravindra has a long and promising career ahead of him. He has so much to offer to this game for the Indian cricket team and he is going to be one of the key & leading players for the future of Indian cricket.
Well done buddy, keep up the great show.
