Cheteshwar Pujara creates history when he scored 12th Double Century (including three triple ton) in Ranji Trophy Match between Saurashtra vs Jharkhand played at Rajkot. He surpassed Vijay Merchant as the Indian batsman with most number of double-centuries in first class matches.

Most Double Centuries record by Vijay Merchant (11 Double tons) stood for more than 70 years which was broken by Cheteshwar hitting 12 double tons, out of which three from Test Cricket. Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid have scored 10 double tons in first class matches.

Australian batsman Legend Sir Don Bradman holds the record of most double tons in first-class cricket with 37 double tons.
